A new theme joins the offering of the second edition of PharmaProcess, the forum for the pharmaceutical industry which takes place on 27 and 28 October 2015 at Fira de Barcelona's Conference Centre at Montjuïc. Having analysed the current market situation and the trends that will define the industry's progress on a global level, the forum's organizers have decided that the subject of Logistics should be added as one of the key tracks in the technical and scientific content of the forum. PharmaProcess will thus have a total of four themes for consideration and debate: Regulation and Development, Operations, Business Development and Good Delivery Practice.

At present, Logistics, being understood as the process that integrates the procurement of raw materials, their supply and the certification of suppliers through to the end client, is one of the factors that has a huge influence on the development of the pharmaceutical industry.

Apart from logistics in its direct sense, it is also important to consider reverse logistics – in other words, returns – and the 3R management system – recycling, reusing and revalorizing. Logistics is an absolutely integral element of every process in the pharmaceutical sector, not least in terms of the management of logistics costs and their strategic importance in the cost evaluation of the end product. Hence its inclusion as a theme in PharmaProcess.

Some of the issues under discussion in the Good Delivery Practice track, under the sub-headings of Procurement and Distribution, will include the regulations applying to raw materials and excipients, maintaining the quality of raw materials, the new model of the logistics chain and the guarantees that currently exist in intensive and extensive distribution.

At the moment, we are coordinating the technical seminars and the trade show area with companies and speakers involved in Logistics. The PharmaProcess organizers are finalizing the panel of speakers with the support of the International Advisory Board and its Scientific Committee.

The themed offering of PharmaProcess will be rounded off with Industry Sessions at which exhibitors can reveal their success stories.
