The Fira de Barcelona event arouses the interest of companies and institutions in both countries

PharmaProcess travels to Japan and South Korea to promote the second edition of the event

The management of PharmaProcess travelled recently to Japan and South Korea to present the second edition of the event to representatives of the most important companies and institutions in the biopharmaceutical sector of these two countries. The outcome of the visit has been more than positive, as the companies and organizations contacted have shown great interest in the event at Fira de Barcelona.

The PharmaProcess management formed part of a trade mission organized by the Catalan government with the aim of identifying new business opportunities in various sectors, especially biopharmaceuticals, which visited Japan and South Korean from 23 to 28 February this year.

During the trade mission, the PharmaProcess delegation held a series of meetings with different institutions and companies in the two Asian nations to give them details of the second edition of the event, which will be held in October of this year.

According to the director of PharmaProcess, Pilar Navarro: "The meetings were extremely positive as we got a very good response from the companies and institutions with whom we met."

On her Asian tour, Navarro met with representatives of various firms in the pharma sector, such as Korean companies Daewoong, Dong-AST and KPMA and Japanese firm Chagai from the Roche Group, amongst others. She also met members of different institutions and organizations such as the Japanese Foundation of Biomedical Research and Innovation and the RIKEN Institute of Computation Science, the South Korean Ministry of Food Security and Medicines, the Japanese Bioindustry Association and the Osaka Association of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers.

Japan is the world's third biggest economy and the biggest investor in the Asia-Pacific zone, while South Korea has experienced tremendous growth in the last 20 years based on value-added activities such as cutting-edge technology, earmarking 4% of its GDP to R&D.
