The forum will address the most relevant issues raised by the pharmaceutical industry
The falsification and consumption of expired medicines will be debated at PharmaProcess'13
Can the sale of fake medicines be avoided? Is it safe to consume expired medicines? What will medicines of the future be like? Why is the Asian market the main producer of active ingredients? These and other questions, which are at the centre of debate of the global pharmaceutical process industry, will be analysed at PharmaProcess, the first forum held in Europe on this topic, which will be organised by Fira de Barcelona on October 29th and 30th in the Palau de Congressos in the Montjuïc exhibition centre.
The first edition of PharmaProcess is convening this industry's most important experts to reveal the sector's latest technical advances in a programme consisting of two plenary sessions and various conferences about the natural conceptualisation of industrial pharmaceutical processes.
PharmaProcess will be structured around three core themes: Development, which covers the process from the medicine's initial formulation to its industrialisation phase; Biopharmatech, covering the latest developments in new pharmaceutical products obtained from biotechnology; and Operations, which covers issues related to the manufacture and distribution of medicines.
The experts will discuss the different views in the United States and the European Union on excipients, fundamental ingredients that define the shape of medicines we consume. This issue is generating an important controversy since certain European products cannot be distributed in the United States due to the different regulations in force. In these sessions dedicated to bio pharmaceuticals, experts will explore the possibilities of the so-called "medicines of the future".
In a context in which emerging nations are also becoming centres of innovation, the forum will cover the differences between regulations for the manufacture of active ingredients around the world and that allow countries such as China and India to be the main producing nations. It will also tackle the way to prevent the distribution and sale of fake medicines, which are a big health risk, as well as whether expired medicines should be consumed or not.
PharmaProcess is a debate forum, unprecedented in Europe, which provides a setting for the exchange of knowledge and experiences on the organisational and technological innovation in pharmaceutical processes with the aim of maximising resources.
